Leeds 180 (and Blackpool 167)

My attention has been drawn to the fact that Leeds 180 has a new canvas over its bow springs.
Leeds 180 looking immaculate alongside Blackpool 167 which is now back on its trucks.

Another Birthday

This blog is four years old today.
This picture of Glasgow 1297 was the first I published. Below is sister car 1319 taken in April 1960. 1297 has now been withdrawn from service and is about to be incarcerated in the Exhibition Hall.
The Tramway Museum Society recently started an official blog and yesterday it published these pictures of 1297.

This afternoon I nipped upto Crich to get a few pictures of 1297. It is one of my favourite trams and I came away feeling very sad that I will never see it run again.

Finally does anyone else remember the book and the film '9 Dalmuir West' with its theme tune 'Telstar'?

More Blackpool

British Trams Online has reported that five more Blackpool trams have been acquired. They are 630 in Nov 2011, 648 in 2015, 762 in 2015 and twin cars 672 + 682 in 2012.
Centenary car 648 on 20//9/2009.
Brush car 630 on 19/9/2009.
I haven't got a recent picture of 762 so here is sister car 761 on 20/9/2009.
A friend has sent me this picture of Twin Car 686.

Green Door

The Green Door was open again on Tuesday morning.

I am puzzled by the lack of obvious activity in the Exhibition Hall. On Tuesday morning as far as I could see there was only one man at work inside.
I understand there will be about ten trams in the Exhibition but haven't seen any preparatory work to bring any trams up to display standards. I have read that Blackpool 712 is being given a quick paint job in Blackpool but am not aware of work on any others.

Perhaps someone could post a comment to enlighten me.  Posted by Picasa
The Green Door was closed on Monday, 15th Feb with few lights on inside. Although there were two vans parked outside for our visitors to admire, I saw no activity.
I did see this new poster advertising the proposed exhibition but I saw absolutely no sign of any trams being prepared for display or anything else for that matter.
