My understanding is that the trolley reverser at Glory Mine is in working order and that a safe working method now needs to be agreed. This would involve the conductor walking from A to B to pull the frog, giving a signal for the tram to move forward a few yards and then walking to C to rejoin the tram.

Rail store

I can confirm that a rail store will be constructed here as a first step towards tidying up the 'linear junk yard' alongside the track.

Woodland Walk

The steps to the viewing area at Wakebridge have been repaired.

Cabin Crossing

Safety barriers have been errected at  Cabin Crossing and a JCB machine was busily at work on Tuesday morning.

I understand that a new rail store is to be constructed alongside the track.

rush job

Sheffield 15 is required for service on Monday. Lots to do!

Horse trams

Chesterfield 8 and Sheffield 15 were moved from the exhibition hall to the workshop yesterday. 15 will be taking part in the 150 Years of Trams event on Monday and I think 8 is required for a photo shoot.

I don't know when these very neat rail greasers were installed but they seem to be doing a good job in the recent dry weather.

Calcutta

On Thursday I met a gentleman from Calcutta on Southampton 45.  This reminded me of our visit in 1988.

First and last trips

I was Southampton 45's conductor yesterday. On the first (non passenger) trip we had a look at the pull cord for the trolley reverser wich is situated on the pole on the right.

On the final trip we ran as far as Wakebridge and sure enough two gentlemen appeared as if from nowhere to join the new member who was having a lift to the main car park.

Leeds

Work continues on 399's truck and Leeds 2 is expected to be out on Sunday 30th May.

This is my first photograph of the new points at Town End being changed. They are operated by a removable lever from a slot in the centre of the track.
