Morocco

1. Hard hats are not required.
2. The mysterious oriental phone dance.
3. The local buses in Marrakech are owned by National Express (for the time being).
4. Some long distance buses look to be based on lorry chassis with front engines and have lots of steps.

Not Billie Piper

I didn't see the filming at Crich last weekend featuring Leeds 180, so here a couple of pictures Kath took in 1971 when Jimmy Saville visited the Museum.

Back to the buses

Camera problems solved. This is today's 16:13 from Ripley to Matlock via Crich.
I was over optimistic in reporting low floor buses for Crich. Yesterday all three Yourbuses were step entrance, rear engined Volvos with Wright bodies like this one. I think they are ex-Firstbus but confirmation would be appreciated.

Town End - Friday 6th November

Kath broke my camera yesterday, so no pictures today. I can report that the concrete base is now complete and that the rail and pointwork will be delivered from Germany on Monday.
I will be away from Crich for the next couple of weeks so the workshop staff have promised to take some pictures of what should be the most exciting part of the project.
Message from Kath - it's actually OUR camera.

Workshop update

1 &2 . Leeds 399 is now complete and had a test run on Monday. A lot of detailed changes have been made to reverse modifications made at Crich over the years.

3. Blackpool 167's truck frames and 3 axles are ready for re-assembly. A replacement for the cracked axle is on order.

4. All the wooden seat bottoms for LUT 159 have been assembled and pickled in wood preservative. Similarly the side frames are being prepared for fitting.

Town End 30th October 2009

These two pictures taken last Friday show a very tidy construction site ready to be handed over to Balfour Beatty. BB arrived on Moday and the first concrete for the track base was poured on Tuesday - pics to follow.
