EAST GERMANY TOUR - 30 SEPTEMBER 2016 - NORDHAUSEN

We were lucky enough to arrive just in time to catch the rail car to Niedersachsenwerfen, where we then awaited the aqrrivaql of the diesel tram into Nordha

EAST GERMANY TOUR 29 SEPTEMBER 2016 - POTSDAM

I have just enjoyed 10 days on the Longworth tour to East Germany with good weather most of the time. For the blog I took a few tramway photos, but mainly looked on the tour as a nostalgia trip as I had not visited for many years and wanted to see how the towns had developed since reunification.
After our morning in Brandenburg I took the train to Potsdam for more nostalgia - how it has changed outside the Hauptbahnhof! - very smart and bustling.

EAST GERMANY TOUR 29 SEPTEMBER - BRANDENBURG

I have just enjoyed 10 days on the Longworth tour to East Germany with good weather most of the time. For the blog I took a few tramway photos, but mainly looked on the tour as a nostalgia trip as I had not visited for many years and wanted to see how the towns had developed since reunification.
We stayed in Brandenburg for the first three nights of the tour and visited other towns from there. On this day wse staqrted the mornng at Brandenburg Tramway Museum, then had the hire of tram no 30 for a stadtrundfahrt.

EAST GERMANY TOUR - 28 SEPTEMBER 2016 - BERLIN

I have just enjoyed 10 days on the Longworth tour to East Germany with good weather most of the time. For the blog I took a few tramway photos, but mainly looked on the tour as a nostalgia trip as I had not visited for many years and wanted to see how the towns had developed since reunification.
My afternoon was spent in the centre of Berlin looking at Alexanderplatz/Potsdammerplatz and other memorable places.

The first of our visits was to Woltersdorf where we had the hire of 218, a lovely old car but not quite big enough for all our party to be seated! Then a quick ride on the Schoneicke line.

VENICE MESTRE - Frank Bagshaw

For tramway enthusiasts who only think that Venice has gondolas and vaporettos to offer, Frank Bagshaw sends us this photo of one of the LOHRS vehicles (they are referred to as trams) that run from Mestre across the causeway to Venice. Frank rode the route at the weekend and reports the vehicles are very noisy and it's difficult to hold a conversation when they are travelling.

CRICH TRAM DAY AND PORTO COAL CAR 65 ON SATURDAY 10 SEPTEMBER 2016

A very busy tram service on Saturday including a few journeys by Porto 273, but the star attraction was the first appearance in daylight for many years of Porto Coal Car 65 prior to leaving for its new home at Beamish.
