| The Netherlands is introducing a national smart card system which is not visitor friendly. We walked a long way to buy a paper day ticket from this office which was closed at 9:45 despite the notice saying that it opened at 9:00. We then had to walk all the way back to the Tourist Information office which was open and did have day tickets. |

| There are two types of tram in Den Haag. These step entrance cars operates most of the services. |

| These low floor cars are wider and are confined to two routes. |

| The fares seem very high. A single ride costs 2.40 Euros and a day ticket costs £6.80 Euros but is restricted to the central and adjacent zones. Many tram routes are quite long and it is very easy to overide into outer zones which would doubtless incur a stiff fine. |
