ARNHEM OPENAIR MUSEUM ON SUNDAY 6 APRIL 2014

I visited the museum with Wim Beukenkamp on the Sunday morning and was surprised how it has developed in the many years since I have been there.  The addition of a part-terrace of old Amsterdam houses near the entrance (also new) is a very good exhibit showing the slums and one of the old 'brown bars' with the smoke stained decor etc also a new working micro brewery has been added with the beer being sold in the cafes.

AMSTERDAM TRAM MUSEUM AT HAARLEMMERMEER STATION 5 APRIL

I was invited to go and visit the depot/workshop of the tram museum by Wim Beukenkamp and enjoyed a couple of hours there looking around and drinking coffee!

AMSTERDAM 3-8 APRIL 2014

I have just returned from a very pleasant visit to Amsterdam and really enjoyed my time there, it is such a great city to get around with ease.  Although I took one day out to visit Keukenhof for the flowers, the rest of the time was spent either on or looking at the trams - it's still in the blood!!

Frank was  conducting at Crich today – April 1^st, 3 x trams were in service: Chesterfield 7, Glasgow 1068 and Leeds 345 – the latter seen at the improved Glory Mine terminus where passengers are now allowed to alight from trams.

Six photos taken this morning when we rode on the first tram of the season and were able to get off and take photos at the end of the line.

"Spongebob" appeared first and then remained on the depot yard.

The new entrance sign is very attractive.

CRICH PREPARATIONS FOR OPENING DAY ON 29 MARCH - Geoff and Hazel Quarmby

Here are some photos taken Sunday 16 March, when the trams were being prepared for opening day (March 29th).

 

 

NOTTINGHAM PROGRESS MARCH 2014 - Frank Bagshaw

Work on the new extensions continues in Nottingham. The tracks at Station Street are being connected to the new track on the Karlsruhe Friendship bridge over Nottingham train station. Trams are terminating at the northern end of the platforms. Refurbished Incentro tram 205 waits at the shortened platform before returning to Hucknall.

 

Along Queens Walk on the Wilford route, OLE poles have been planted. It is said this line will form part of the initial testing.

 

On Wilford Toll bridge Alstom are busy welding rails raiding for laying across the bridge.
