THE RICHARD LOMAS MEMORIAL CHRISTMAS JUMPER COMPETITION - Mike Crabtree

In accordance with tradition the Crich Workshop team held their annual Richard Lomas Memorial Christmas Jumper Competition on Monday 22nd December 2014 in The Brunswick, Derby.

Richard had been a very regular attendee of this event and always recorded it for his blog.

Enjoy, Richard would have done so!

It should be noted that Mike Crabtree managed to stay awake for the proceedings this year – the only man known to have drunk a pint while asleep!

SHEFFIELD IN THE GLOOM 28 NOVEMBER 2014

Paid a visit to Sheffield to meet up with some relations for lunch and then decided couldn't be bothered with the shops and crowds and took a few photos in the gloom.

No it's not subsidence, I slipped off the pavement just as I took the shot! You can really see the gloomy weather.

The best laid plans etc.. We thought we'd have a day in Manchester to ride the latest extensions we had not yet managed to do. On arrival at Piccadilly Undercroft, we were greeted with a few staff in hi-vis vests telling us no trams from there today and we would have to walk up to Piccadilly Gardens. On setting off on our walk, we found that the track under the footbridge near the Undercroft was receiving attention, hence no trams. We also knew about engineering works on the ramp past GMex which was ongoing, so plans had to be hastily rethought, ce la vie, and we still haven't been to Ashton!

3086 on the Mauldeth Rd West reservation. This was built in the 1920s / 30s for trams to get from Princess Rd to Barlow Moor Rd but the tracks were never built so it became a tree lined central reservation until Metrolink came along and put tram tracks down some 80 plus years later.
