The Museum opened on Saturday for half term week.

Green Door

The Green Door was open again on Tuesday morning.

I am puzzled by the lack of obvious activity in the Exhibition Hall. On Tuesday morning as far as I could see there was only one man at work inside.
I understand there will be about ten trams in the Exhibition but haven't seen any preparatory work to bring any trams up to display standards. I have read that Blackpool 712 is being given a quick paint job in Blackpool but am not aware of work on any others.

Perhaps someone could post a comment to enlighten me.  

The Green Door was closed on Monday, 15th Feb with few lights on inside. Although there were two vans parked outside for our visitors to admire, I saw no activity.

I did see this new poster advertising the proposed exhibition but I saw absolutely no sign of any trams being prepared for display or anything else for that matter.

Shunting

On Tuesday morning several trams were moved. Blackpool 40 and Glasgow 812 moved from the workshop to the depots. London United 159 moved from track 1 to track 3 in the workshop and Blackpool 167's bogies were moved from track 1 to track 2. The tower wagon and GMJ were moved to track 2 and Chesterfield 7 was moved to the workshop for comissioning.

Solar Panels and preparations for opening

The Museum opens for the half term holiday on Saturday.

Town End - 9th February 2010

A cold morning with sunny intervals.
Work in the past week has concentrated on digging out the bank side. The track itself is now ready for ashphalting before it can be brought into use.

Keep digging

As I left the Museum last Tuesday, I was surprised to see a JCB digging into the bank side at Town End.

I must be becoming a tree hugger because I don't like seeing trees being destroyed without compelling reasons. I don't recall seeing any plans for this destruction. Perhaps someone could tell me what is going on.

Green Door

The Green Door was open last Tuesday morning.
According to this week's Ripley & Heanor News a new state of the art all-singing, all-dancing exhibition will open in April. It didn't say in which year.

According to the official web site, admission prices are being reduced during the refurbishment of the Exhibition Hall.

The Workshop

Following the delivery of a new axle last week, Blackpool 167's bogies have been completed.

Glasgow 812,s top deck seats have been removed for re-upholstering. As can be seen in the picture some are quite badly damaged.

Blackpool 40 is receiving a pre-season check including attention to the paintwork.

London United 159

Timber to be cut up and used as floor slats for the top deck.

A lot of work has been done recently on the top deck and staircase handrails.

Whilst I was at Crich yesterday,  the trolley standard was manouvred into position.

On a miserable morning with intermittant rain, work continued on preparing the area for ashphalting.
