Yes the 38 is still running! The oldest service tram in Poland with the longest-serving tram driver who has his own business cards complete with gmail address.
The tram in the first photo is called Konstal 111N. The 6 cars of this type were produced in 1993, so they are relatively new (although very ancient, when it comes to the technology and design). They were developed because of the bridge reconstruction in Gliwice which cut off this city from the rest of the network for some time. Between 2006 and 2008 two of them were lent to Krakow which needed them during some reconstructions etc. and did not have enough double-sided trams. They were given a funny name "Gliwice's Revenge" due to their poor reliability and the fact that Cracow sold some of their old trams to Silesia at that time.
