Leicester 76

Here is a description in Peter the Mop's own words.
"76 had a bath today! boy was it dirty, I'd forgotten the roof is white (well very light grey), not dark grey! It's nice and clean now both inside and out.
Strange tram with the reverse stairs, nearly fell down them at one point so accustomed am I to the stair head being next to the top-deck door and NOT near the front of the balcony."

Glasgow (and Blackpool)

A friend, who also likes Glasgow 1297, sent me a couple of pictures of it in service in 2007.

On Friday and Saturday 1297 was thoroughly cleaned and returned to the Exhibition Hall. 1115 was also washed.
I have just stumbled across this 1984 picture of 1297 and Blackpool 762.
Finally I have updated 'More Blackpool' with a picture of a Twin Car. Posted by Picasa

Leeds 180 (and Blackpool 167)

My attention has been drawn to the fact that Leeds 180 has a new canvas over its bow springs.
Leeds 180 looking immaculate alongside Blackpool 167 which is now back on its trucks.

Another Birthday

This blog is four years old today.
This picture of Glasgow 1297 was the first I published. Below is sister car 1319 taken in April 1960. 1297 has now been withdrawn from service and is about to be incarcerated in the Exhibition Hall.
The Tramway Museum Society recently started an official blog and yesterday it published these pictures of 1297.

This afternoon I nipped upto Crich to get a few pictures of 1297. It is one of my favourite trams and I came away feeling very sad that I will never see it run again.

Finally does anyone else remember the book and the film '9 Dalmuir West' with its theme tune 'Telstar'?

More Blackpool

British Trams Online has reported that five more Blackpool trams have been acquired. They are 630 in Nov 2011, 648 in 2015, 762 in 2015 and twin cars 672 + 682 in 2012.
Centenary car 648 on 20//9/2009.
Brush car 630 on 19/9/2009.
I haven't got a recent picture of 762 so here is sister car 761 on 20/9/2009.
A friend has sent me this picture of Twin Car 686.

A walk to Wakebridge on Monday afternoon

Two views of the depot area. Vans and containers. Trams obscured by plant and equipment.

The path alonside the children's play area. A JCB and a large dump truck at work near the Bridge.
