My recollection is that 167 was a substitute for Gateshead 5 which had similar problems to Oporto 273 in Blackpool this year. Can anyone remember the details?
whilst I was a driver at NGF 90 at Gateshead the derailment with 5 happened before the majority of staff started. What I do remember was that a form of 'check rail' was added in the sharpest part of the curve, whether this happened before or after 102 came of quite spectacularly is also lost in the midst of time...
